Course Details
Course Description: This is a live, virtual 2-hour course designed for primary care providers (physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and physical therapists) to enhance their foundational knowledge in diagnostic imaging modalities for individuals with thoracolumbar pain/pathology. Prior to this course, we recommend (although it is not mandatory) that participants take the Intro to MSK Imaging course, available on-demand here. This course will equip each student with the knowledge required to know when a patient with thoracolumbar pain may be in need of imaging, what images to order, and how to perform appropriate clinical correlation of results.

Understand common radiographic views within the thoracolumbar spine.
Identify when stress view radiography is necessary within the lumbar spine.
Identify normal thoracolumbar anatomy on radiographs and magnetic resonance imaging
Identify the most common imaging planes for thoracolumbar magnetic resonance imaging
Identify physical examination tests to assist in screening for thoracolumbar compression fracture
Determine imaging necessity for clinical concern for thoracolumbar compression fracture based on a clinical prediction guideline
Determine a practice management strategy for patients with radiographically identified thoracolumbar compression fracture
