Evaluation & Treatment for Golfers with Lumbar Dysfunction

Course Description:  This is a 2-hr course designed for movement professionals (Sports Medicine, Physical Therapists, Athletic Trainers, Performance Coaches) to enhance their skills in assessment and management for golfers with lumbar dysfunction.  The live Zoom course will be focused on movement patterns of the lumbar spine, hip joint complex, and thoracic spine in connection with at-risk swing characteristics that will help with initiating the most appropriate treatment and training.

Course Objectives: At the conclusion of the course, participants will demonstrate competency in the following objectives:

·  Describe the function and mechanics of the lumbar spine during the golf swing.

·  Identify the various types of swing mechanics that may influence the lumbar spine.

·  Identify contributing factors of the hip complex and thoracic spine on the lumbar spine during the golf swing.

·  Design the most appropriate treatment based on lumbar spine movement pattern and golf swing characteristics.

Competency Demonstration:  In order to receive continuing education credit, each participant must achieve 70% in a 10-question quiz provided via Flexiquiz after the course. If the student fails to achieve 70 points throughout the course, they will be asked to complete additional assignments until remediation is achieved. Once the student achieves this score and completes the course evaluation, they will be e-mailed an official course certificate.
